My morning routine is fairly regimented. Your routine most likely is also. Once properly attired I do several things:
- get the coffee creamer from the refrigerator
- start a pot of coffee for my wife and I
- pour in j.u.u.s.s.s.t.t.t.t the right amount of French Vanilla creamer into my coffee cup
- go to my computer and log-in to Crosswalk.com
where I listen to the Proverb of the day from the New Living Translation and wait for the coffee to finish brewing. I can hear the coffee maker brewing from my computer–I can taste the coffee before it ever pours over my lips…I know just how its going to taste!
My perfect coffee morning is sometimes foiled when my wife beats me to the coffee pot. In her attempt to be sweet she prepares my coffee for me. The only problem is she doesn’t know how much coffee to pour in with my premixed creamer…she always gives me too much coffee. She’s always giving more than enough…just like her mother. As she rounds the corner I look at my clear glass coffee cup and I can tell from the color of the coffee she’s done it again: she’s poured in too much coffee. I say, “Thank You honey.” She goes away satisfied.
My wife’s actions illustrate to me the character of God: He is the God who is more than enough. Genesis 17:1 says, And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God… The Hebrew words translated Almighty God are “El Shaddai.” “El Shaddai” literally means ALL SUFFICIENT ONE. He is SELF-SUFFICIENT and He has everything. He needs nothing. He is not only sufficient enough for us, He is MORE than sufficient for us in every circumstance and situation!
