1 Corinthians 6:18
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man (or woman) commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually, sins against his own body.
I know this is not the usual “Christian” blog you expected to find on a church web page, but the truth of the matter is, it is happening right under our noses at an alarming rate! So we have a choice, we can stick our head in the sand or we can shed a little light on the subject. I love exposing the enemy of our souls with the light and truth of the gospel of Jesus. So here we go!
The enemy of our soul absolutely hates what Jesus has done for you. His sacrifice on the cross has made us clean from our sin. The enemy wants to get you unclean, but he can’t make you do anything, so he applies pressure till you give in to the temptation. He starts by corrupting our thoughts and manipulating our feelings. Our human nature wants to ACT out how we feel instead of what we know to be the Truth. He will manipulate outside influences to affect the inside decision of the heart and mind.
Very few things accomplish Satan’s goal of making us feel unclean, but sexual sin is hard to get “off” once you have given into it. When a man or a woman falls for this trickery of the enemy, it almost always carries long time and residual effects to all parties involved. Sexual sin is highly addictive and breeds shame and worthlessness like no other sin. God forgives us the MOMENT we repent, but the healing process to you and your family can take a monumental amount of time… most families do not survive the ordeal.
The number of men and women that have fallen into this bondage is staggering. According to a survey of pastors and lay leaders conducted by Leadership Magazine, 62% of pastors and lay leaders have viewed pornography on a regular basis. We need to pray that God will keep us all the days of our lives free from this addiction and that the pastors and leaders whom God has placed over us would not be deceived and seduced into the destruction of their souls. They need to stand strong in the Lord and their discernment be sharp against the wiles of the crafty one! 1 Timothy 4:1 says “Now the spirit expressly says that in the latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.” Sexual sin has many forms of seducing us.
The enemy is very sly and cunning and is gaining ground and a lot of success enticing people, both men and women into pornography. Today with modern technology, it is as close and easy as clicking a “mouse.” The lie of the enemy is “ no one is home, no one will see, know, or find out,” THE DEVIL IS A LIAR! Pastors, leaders of the church and Christians are falling under the huge wave of temptation to look “just once.” The devil’s ultimate goal is to get you to follow the subduing spirit so far that you turn away from the faith.
Seriously, SIN is like stealing! If I choose to steal something from someone, I have made a grave mistake. I can return the stolen item and ask to be forgiven and move on with life, with a lesson learned. If I commit sexual sin, there is no way to return it, it is now a part of who I am. This is the way the enemy tries to use sexual sin against the church. It is not so easily gotten rid of, the act of sexual sin can’t be returned. You can say “I am sorry” and ask for forgiveness, but the enemy will remind you daily of your sexual transgression. Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you can afford or even imagine.
So, how do we fight this unseen force that wants to destroy our life? I am glad you asked. You must first be able to accept the truth that there is an enemy that wants to turn you away from the faith. Next, we have to fall in love with Jesus, give Him everything. Falling deeply in love with your spouse is what keeps you from sleeping around with other men or women. It’s the same with Jesus, when we fall in love with Him, we will think about pleasing Him and not our flesh. Lastly, repent, know that if you have repented for your sin, you are FORGIVEN. It can no longer be used against you.
HERE’S THE CATCH! Please do not miss this. You may still have a weakness! Ask God to heal you completely, redeem your past, restore your life, and sanctify you entirely. IMPORTANT NOTICE: FORGIVE YOURSELF! Until you allow God to take full control over your life in every way….. we are still vulnerable to the enemy of our soul.
Always remember, sin is an open invitation for Satan to come and visit you and your family.
